Aftercare:
Tattoo After-Care
Wash with clean, lukewarm water unscented, antibacterial soap (e.g. Dial Gold or Dr. Bronner’s). Gently work suds into the tattoo with your fingers for ~1 minute. Rinse well with water and let it air-dry or pat dry with a clean paper towel. Wash 1–3× per day, depending on how much sweat or grime accumulates.
Only begin moisturizing after the tattoo has stopped oozing (usually ~day 3–5) and scabs or flakes are forming.
Patch-test virgin (unrefined) coconut oil on clean, un-inked skin—keep covered for 24hrs. If no redness or itchiness appears, use it.
After each wash, apply a pearl-size or smaller amount of the oil, rubbing it in until the skin no longer feels dry or tight but isn’t shiny—never layer heavily. Moisturize once or twice daily as needed until the skin is fully healed.
Remember to avoid direct sunlight, swimming, and picking at scabs to promote the best healing process.
Simple Piercing After-Care
Wash your hands well, every time before you touch the jewelry or site. This prevents introducing bacteria.
Use a sterile saline wound-wash (labeled 0.9% sodium chloride in water, no additives). Contact-lens saline or homemade saltwater formulas are not recommended by pros — they can be too harsh or contain irritants.
Spray the saline directly on the piercing — or press a gauze pad soaked in saline lightly against the area for 30–60 seconds. No need to rotate or move the jewelry.
Gently blot away softened crust or discharge with a fresh gauze or paper wipe—never pick or tug. Additional rinse is optional to wash off residue.
Air-dry or pat dry gently using clean disposable paper. Avoid cloth towels or using heat near the jewelry.
Clean once daily, increasing to twice maximum only while drainage or buildup persists. Avoid sleeping on or touching your fresh piercing.

Highly recommend for your next tattoo! I’ve gotten many tattoos over the years, yet this was one of the best experiences! Tracie was super welcoming from the minute I stepped into the tattoo shop. The process from booking the appointment all the way to finished was very easy. If you’re looking for a peaceful atmosphere, get your next tattoo at The Black Sheep Collective!

I’ve always wanted a tattoo but couldn't help but hear “you’re stuck with that the rest of your life” But a little over two years ago I decided to get one. I mean, I was over 40 so I figured I was more than half way there 🤣 Tracie was absolutely wonderful! She answered all of my questions. She dealt with my indecisiveness and never showed any aggravation. And on the day of, she was more than attentive and made it an overall great experience.
I like her and respect her so much that I got a new one last week. She’s also designed a memorial piece for someone that I lost last year. There’s no one else that I would trust.
